This is a painting of an Open 40 racing boat owned by my friend, Peter Bourke. Peter has spent the past several years preparing himself and the boat, Imagine, for the 3-4 month race, The 2027 Global Solo Challenge.
Imagine is a French design by Finot-Conq, and was built in France in 2001. Virtually everything but the hull and rudders have been replaced, so she is actually much younger.
The first person to sail Imagine (then named, Spirit of Yukoh) around the world was a Japanese man named Kojiro Shiraishi (Koji) who completed the 2003-2004 Around Alone Race.
